Organizing pages

Every page is a Markdown file, and every folder is a path. You can grow the knowledge base from the page tree on the left, and the files stay plain .md the whole way.

Projects

A project is one folder of pages, with its own tree, search, and Trash. The home page shows every project as a card. Open a card to start reading.

Where pages live

Pages you create or edit are saved in this browser as you type. The pages in the repository are the starting set. When the repository gains a page, it appears here too, and pages you have edited keep your version.

Note

To move your pages to another device, or to keep a copy, choose Export project (.zip) from the … menu beside Pages. Import the files on the other device with Import Markdown files….

Create

ToDo this
Create a pagePress C, or + beside Pages or beside a folder, then type a title and press Enter
Create a folderChoose New folder from a … menu
Create a linked pageWrite [[New page]], open the link, then choose Create this page
Bring in filesChoose Import Markdown files…, or drop .md files onto the tree

A new page opens with editing on, so you can write at once.

Rename and move

  • Rename from a … menu, or right-click a row. Renaming a page changes its title and its file name together.
  • Move by dragging a row onto a folder, or onto the space under the tree for the top level. Move to… in the … menu does the same from the keyboard.
  • Links follow. When a page or folder changes name or place, every [[wiki link]] that pointed to it is rewritten to the new path.

Versions

Press ⌘S to save a version of the open page. A version is also kept before you start editing after a pause of ten minutes, and before you restore or revert. Open Version history from the page's … menu to read an earlier version and restore it. Edited repository pages can return to the repository copy in one step.

Trash

Move to Trash keeps the page, and a notice offers Undo. Open Trash at the foot of the sidebar to restore a page, or to delete it for good.

The foot of each page lists the pages that link to it, under Linked from. Links to pages that are yet to exist open a page with a button to create them.
