Layout
The screen is three columns. The reading column stays wide enough for a line of thought, and its title row and status line are the same surface as the page.
Files
The left column is the page tree: folders and the pages inside them. The open page is marked, and its folders open to show it. Hover a row for + and … to create, rename, move, and delete. See Organizing pages for the full set. Trash and Settings sit at the foot of the column. The icon at its top left hides the column. That icon then sits at the top left of the page, and brings the column back. Search sits over the screen, so the list can remain a list.
Page
Preview is the default, because this is a place to read. Edit, in the title row, turns editing on: the page stays formatted and each paragraph, heading, list, and diagram becomes a block you can change in place. Press it again to turn editing off. ⌘/ shows the Markdown source, and pressing it again returns to blocks. Share copies a link to this page. Anyone with the link can open it in viewing or in editing. The … beside Share holds the page actions, version history among them. The line stays near sixty-six characters.
Outline
Headings on the open page fill the right column, the full height of the window, in the same tone as the file list. The heading nearest the top of the viewport is marked. Choose one to scroll there. On a narrow screen that column steps away so the page can keep the width.
